Thanks, Monica! I'm glad you enjoy my insane ranting. :)

read through your blog and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Love the pic of your kids reading on the couch!
Granted, mine use it as a trampoline, so it is refreshing to
see kids use it correctly! HA!

Glad to see more stuff is on the way :D

The article also doesn't take into account the "hidden charges" some publishers have. There's one publisher that charges an exorbitant fee just to put their logo on your book! In this case, that fee has increased by over 200% in the past 10 years, while sales have declined about the same percentage. I'm all for publishers making their money back, but at what point does it become highway robbery?

are you shitting me? that's ridiculous. aren't creators strapped for money enough without companies charging them as well?

I WISH it wasn't the truth, but it is. It's next to impossible to make money from creator-owned books.

Eddie Izzard, eh? I'll take that. :o

I knew the regular business model was flawed, but I didn't know it could get that bad that you would have to pay a publisher. that's insane.

yeah, I'm staying away from Diamond for the same reasons. it just seems to me that they're not an effective route for small publishers.

For trades, it's the way to go. But yeah... for small press publishers, it's tough.

Chimaera's business model intrigues me. seems pretty forward looking and not mired in the old publishing methods that most companies still seem enamored with.

Yeah, man. It's like I said on my blog: the digital exodus has begun. Marvel and DC realize it, but nobody else will realize till the bombshells land in their backyards.

I dunno. Maybe they think that if they ignore it it'll go away?

I think they just don't yet realize the upside potential. it's kinda funny how this has parallels to the recording industry and their failure to capitolize on the very same thing.

I agree, man. Publishers should take note of the current recording industry.

I've fallen behind on my blog. Just not enough time in the day to do everything. :(
