These are some of my favorite movies. I’ve included a brief thought on why I like a particular movie. Does anyone else enjoy, or even despise, these movies? What are some of your favorite movies?

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly – I love the story, and I feel that this movie has the best union between music and images that I have ever seen. Together Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone were an unbeatable team.

Seven Samurai - An all around amazing movie. One of the best action movies I have ever seen. Akira Kurosawa is one of my favorite directors and storytellers.

Shawshank Redemption - I love the underlining message of the power of hope.

Conan the Barbarian - Another great union between images and music…together they drive this story more than the dialogue does or even needs to. I love this movie.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - Just awesome!

Double Indemnity - A great film noir!

Once Upon a Time in the West - Once again Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone weave the images and music together in perfect harmony. This movie has my favorite use of flashbacks.

The Wild Bunch - Billed as the “last western” this movie shows that there is indeed honor among thieves.

Casablanca - love the story, dialogue, and acting.

Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back- Parts 4 and 5 remain the strongest of this movie franchise.

Rashomon - Akira Kurosawa weaves a tale that’s goal is not about discovering the truth, but about discovering what truth really is.

Blade Runner - While I’ve never felt the story itself was great, this is however a visually stunning film.

The Professional - Amazing acting and story.

Thin Red Line - Amazing visuals, acting, and story. My only criticism on this film is that it’s about 20 minutes too long…other than that it’s perfection on film.

Batman Begins - An all round great movie.

Hero – A great martial art movie. Stunning visuals and story…story wise this has a lot in common with Akira Kurosawa’s Rashomon.

Fist of Legend - One of the best martial art films of all time…great story, and great fighting. I love that the fights are all ground based…there is very little “wire-fu” to be had in this film. In my opinion Jet Li’s best movie!

Enter the Dragon - Another favorite martial art film. Awesome acting and fighting by Bruce Lee!

The Usual Suspects - When you get to the end of this film, how can you not watch it over again?

Great Movie Classic

Seven Samurai - An all around amazing movie. One of the best action movies I have ever seen. Akira Kurosawa is one of my favorite directors and storytellers.

It's Kurosawa enough said.

Shawshank Redemption - I love the underlining message of the power of hope.

Very powerful, the short story by King is even better which is saying a lot!

Conan the Barbarian - Another great union between images and music…together they drive this story more than the dialogue does or even needs to. I love this movie.

Love this movie. Arnold was Conan to bad the second one sucked!

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - Just awesome!

I think this is the only movie that is better than the book I have tghus far run across.

Love it! I prefer the Leon version (International, extra footage)

Wow! I did in fact, hate this movie.

Batman Begins - An all round great movie.

This movie made me get back into Batman movies. Hope they stick with R movies and the darker feel.

Hero – A great martial art movie. Stunning visuals and story…story wise this has a lot in common with Akira Kurosawa’s Rashomon.

Cool, but not my favorite.

You had a movie on my list that you did not like, so I guess it’s my turn. I remember watching this film in the theater and absolutely hating it. About a year ago I rented this movie to give it another try…and I still hated it.

I've seen large portions of this movie on cable a couple of times, but have not seen it end-to-end in one sitting. I like what I've seen.

Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail

I LOVE THIS MOVIE. It’s frickin’ funny beyond words…except for the very ending which sucks, but up till then it rocks. LOL!

The Name of the Rose

I have never even heard of this movie…I’ll have to look it up on netflixs.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

Another movie that I’ve seen large portions of, but not the entire film. What I’ve seen is very good!

Sean Connery and Micheal Cane very cool film based on the story by Kipling.

Never seen it.

Based on the true story of what happened at Rorke's Drift during the Zulu uprising. Great film.

Time Bandits is an aqquired taste I guess...LOL. I just love John Cleese as Robin Hood.

Hunter S. Thompson played by Johnny Depp. The movie is a trip. For Hunter fans you should also check out "Where the Buffalo Roam" with a very young Bill Murray playing Thompson.

No you didn't just bust out a Gymkata reference... dear lord. I saw this very, very, very bad film back in the day when I was in my early Martial Arts phase that told my brain: all that is "Ninja" must rock! Movies like Ninja III: The Domination, American Ninja, and Gymkata proved I needed to move on. Thank God for Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Also, We...well I at least forgot The Road Warrior which I think is a great film. [/b]

Oh, yes I did! LOL!! Gymkata is a brilliantly bad film. I actually found a VHS copy of this about two years back, for a buck, so I scooped it up; how could I pass such a deal? :0) My favorite part of the film is when he’s running through that village of crazies (or whatever it’s called) and he just happens to find an ancient stone pommel-horse which he, being the trained gymnast he is, uses to whoop-up on all the bad guys! Yes, yes a stone pommel-horse just happened to be in the center of this town. Like I said brilliantly bad! LOL!

I love the Road Warrior too; it's the best in the Mad Max trilogy.

I looked online at my local library and they have “The Man Who Would be King” and “The Name of the Rose” so I reserved them, and I’ll let ya know after I watch them. Thanks for the suggestions, Nic.
