I remember reading about the science of "Spider-Man" (not the Spitting Spider, mind you, but this may apply as well) and the science guy said that as Spiders create their webbing in their abdomens, an actual Spider man would not be shooting webbing from his wrists but instead from, ahem, a different orifice... the science guy's next comment was, "But that would not have made for a PG rated movie..."
